The first Watford Celebration took place in September 2005 at the Multi-Cultural Community Centre and Littlebury Hall in West Watford. It was initiated at a meeting between members of the Watford Interfaith Association, The Watford Town Centre Chaplaincy, the Watford Muslim Women Organisation and The Watford Bridge of Peace WFWP. The need for bringing the various communities of Watford together was discussed and Watford Celebration was born: a community event of celebration and friendship.

Due to the success of the first Celebration and public demand, the event was scaled to the Colosseum. Since then Watford Celebration has become part of the annual calendar of events in Watford and has gone from strength to strength with attendance increasing from 2,500 in 2007 to over 4,000 in 2010.

Elected Mayor Dorothy Thornhill is a keen supporter of Watford Celebration and has been our patron for many years

The success of the Watford Celebration is the result of a team of volunteers from various organisations and the generous support and sponsorships from the Harlequin Centre in 2005, the Watford Borough Council, St Michael’s Catholic High School, FREdome Visionary Trust, National Lottery Fund Award for All, Herts Fire and Rescue Service, Watford Community Housing Trust and many more organisations and individuals.
